TCS’ Editorial Values and Code of Conduct

TCS is committed to upholding the highest editorial standards and believes in ethical journalism. Ethical journalism aims to ensure the exchange of information which is accurate, fair, and backed up by evidence. We are committed to these principles of accuracy and integrity within our journalism, which we believe is both values-driven and promotes freedom of speech. We also strive to consider the impact of our pieces as much as possible, though we are committed to voicing opinions on difficult issues wherever they arise. For more on ethical journalism, see the Ethical Journalism Newtork’s base principles here.

As a student paper working out of the University of Cambridge, we are committed to working within University guidelines on anti-racism, which you can find in more detail here. We also seek to provide a platform for all students to voice their opinions, and are committed to upholding the principle of free speech. Articles published in our Opinions section fall within the licence to publish opinionated pieces as laid out by the IPSO editorial guidance. Unless stated otherwise (in the case of editorials) TCS articles represent above all the views and opinions of their writers and not the paper itself.

Complaints and Feedback

We are absolutely committed to listening to any feedback, questions or concerns that our readers may have about our journalism. Any complaints and corrections, including requests by readers for articles to be amended, should be brought to our attention using this form. We take such complaints seriously, and will offer all of them careful consideration.

In the case of serious concerns or requests for amendments to articles, the Editors-in-Chief will contact the author of the piece in question. We are committed to authorial freedom - as such, the final decision on any changes will lay with the author of the piece.
